In March, eight Illinois Central College students competed in events as part of the National Post-secondary Agricultural Student (PAS) Organization in Louisville, Ky. The conference included more than 600 students in career planning and preparation events from 62 chapters in 18 states.The students had to receive first place in their event at the Illinois state event to qualify for nationals. Student teams had to win first or second place in the state event to qualify. Teams placed 1st overal in the Soils Specialist category and 9th in the Crop Specialist category. Three students also placed 1st in their respective categories -- John Hendricks in the Soils Specialist category, Nikki Chambliss in the Agriculture Equipment Service interview, and Devin McGinnis in the Livestock Production interview category.

Illinois Central College welcomed students who accepted membership into Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. The local chapter is Upsilon Mu at ICC.

Students in the graphic design advanced design problems course (GRDSN 240) recently submitted work to the Rotary Club of Peoria-North for their upcoming fundraising gala and 50th anniversary event. Students created a logo to commemorate the anniversary and promote the event. They also designed invitations, rsvp cards, save-the-date postcards, and an event brochure. Students presented their final work to the Rotary Club, which selected five students as finalists. The winning logo and printed materials will be used to promote the Club's upcoming gala event in spring of 2018. Illinois Central College's Phi Beta Lambda members who placed 1st or 2nd in their competitive events at the State Leadership Conference in April advanced to the National Leadership Conference held on June 24 - 27 in Anaheim, California. There were approximately 2,000 attendees who competed in events, attended leadership workshops led by business professionals from companies such as Amazon and Solomon Wilkins International, and voted for regional and national officers.

The Diesel Powered Equipment Technology (DPET) Program at Illinois Central College annually presents its Outstanding Graduate Award based on technical scholastic achievement, community and college activities, work ethic, internship performance, communications ability, leadership, diagnostic skills, professionalism, and ability to work with others.
