Illinois Central College agriculture student Chase Gore showcased his knowledge and skills in the 2021 Professional Agricultural Students (PAS) National Conference held virtually in March. Chase won first place honors in the Job Interview Contest in the area of Livestock Production. Students were scored on a mock interview, resume and cover letter. This national competition included students from four-year universities and community colleges.

Three Illinois Central College agricultural students received the first place team award in the National Professional Agricultural Student Conference Overall Livestock Specialty Division held virtually in March. Teams were scored on written tests, problem-solving, and a team presentation. Team members included Kate Henkel, El Paso, Illinois, Spencer Atkinson, Huntington, Indiana and Evan Link, Gilson, Illinois. Individually, Link placed 2nd in the nation.

Winning essay on "How My Community College Has Changed My Life" in ICC Student Life Writing Contest

Illinois Central College agriculture students showcased their knowledge and skills in the 2021 Professional Agricultural Students (PAS) State Conference held virtually in February. Collectively, the ICC students earned 11 first-place honors, seven second-place honors, and one fourth-place. A total of 31 ICC students competed in the job interview and agriculture team competitions in which three-member teams were scored on written tests, problem-solving, and a team presentation. The seven different team competitions included the specializations of crops, soils, precision agriculture, beef, sheep, swine, and overall livestock. For the job interview competition, students were scored on a mock interview, resume, and cover letter. This statewide competition included students from seven different four-year universities and community colleges.

Illinois Central College sophomore Spencer Atkinson, Huntington, IN placed 3rd at the National Professional Agricultural Student Conference held virtually in March in the Job Interview area of Livestock Production. Participants from both four-year universities and community colleges prepared resumes and cover letters and were interviewed by industry experts.

Sophomore Illinois Central College Student Regan Fringer from Madera, California placed 2nd in Swine Judging at the 2021 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Sarah Stevens, an ICC horticulture student and Student President of ICC's Sigma Kappa Delta - Kappa Delta Chapter, was recently named winner of the Dr. Don Perkins Service Scholarship from the National English Honors Organization Sigma Kappa Delta. She was named a winner among entrants across chapters throughout the nation at the recent national conference of Sigma Tau Delta, the sister organization at four-year universities. Sarah has been an active SKD member and plans to transfer to Illinois State University. The Dr. Don Perkins Service Scholarship honors one of the founding fathers of Sigma Kappa Delta and the first advisor of the first chapter of SKD, Alpha Chapter at Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri. This scholarship awards $750.
