Five area students completed a 4-week study abroad experience through the Illinois Central College China Institute. They studied at Xiamen Huaxia located in Xiamen, China, a major coastal city in southeastern China. The students completed 12 semester hours of coursework by studying Mandarin language and Chinese culture. They also toured Beijing and visited the Great Wall. Local students include:

The Illinois Central College Livestock Judging Team was awarded first place in the 2012 National Swine Registry Picture Judging Contest. The team competed agains 20 other university and community college teams from throughout the nation. The contest required students to place 10 classes of boars, gilts, and barrows based on photographs and performance data of the animals. Local students on the team include:

Local educators are preparing for this summer's College for Kids program offered by Illinois Central College, East Peoria. College for Kids offers fun and educational classes on a wide variety of topics. The program is open to students in fourth through tenth grades, and classes meet on the East Peoria Campus. One session meets June 11 - 21, and another session meets July 9 - 19. Area teachers are listed below with their courses:

Members of the Illinois Central College Speech Team competed in the Harper College Litrenta Triangle Speech Tournament on February 19. As a team, ICC placed fourth in the overall competition. Local students competed in various categories of the competition.

The Illinois Central College Speech Team won top honors at the Phi Rho Pi national speech tournament held in Schaumburg, Illinois, April 9 - 15. The team won the gold medal in their division. More than 500 students from 58 colleges competed.

Twelve Illinois Central College students are completing a public relations internship during the Spring 2012 semester. In this role, they will assist with promotion, communication, and media relations for the 2012 National Junior College Athletic Association's Women's Basketball National Tournament that ICC will host March 20-24. This is the fifth year that ICC has hosted the tournament on the East Peoria Campus. Selected students include:
