Illinois Central College to Celebrate Commencement In Person After 2 Years of Virtual Ceremonies

East Peoria, IL (05/12/2022) — Illinois Central College will celebrate Summer 2021, Fall 2021, and Spring 2022 graduates with an in-person ceremony for the first time since 2019. The 2022 ICC Commencement Ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 14 at 2 pm at the Peoria Civic Center, and be live-streamed at icc.edu/commencement. The general public is welcome to attend the in-person ceremony or join virtually.

"We are so excited to finally come together in person to celebrate and recognize this major accomplishment in our students' educational journey," said Dr. Quirk-Bailey. "These graduates have displayed resiliency, grit, and have overcome so much during the pandemic and still they completed. It is an honor to recognize them as ICC alum."

During the commencement ceremony, remarks will be made by Dr. Quirk-Bailey, student speaker Raena Holloway, and keynote speaker DeMarcus Hamilton, a Peoria community advocate and ICC alumnus; participating graduates will walk the stage and receive their diplomas; and the ICC Vocal Jazz group will perform.

The College is encouraging everyone to wear ICC blue and gold on Friday, May 13 to show school spirit in support of the graduates. The community is encouraged to take photos and share congratulations with ICC graduates by using the hashtag #ICCGRAD2022.

To help graduates celebrate, ICC created a graduate toolkit with social media filters, printable signs, computer and phone backgrounds, and a music playlist. The toolkit is available for graduates, their families, employees, and community members at icc.edu/graduatefun.

"These students are the entire reason ICC exists. Their success is our number one priority, and they deserve to be celebrated by our entire community," said Dr. Quirk-Bailey.
