Illinois Central College Offering "Smart Start" & "ReStart" College Success Programs This Summer

East Peoria, IL (05/04/2022) — Illinois Central College will offer "Smart Start" and "ReStart" college success programs this summer to support individuals in their transition to or transition back into college. Students are not required to enroll at ICC this fall in order to participate.

"Smart Start" is a three-week program designed to help high school seniors in their transition from high school to college. Students will practice math, English, and college success strategies in a college atmosphere. Each session includes a variety of activities to help students develop the range of skills needed to become successful college students. These activities will help students build academic skills and social connections, develop their awareness and understanding of a variety of campus resources, and encourage them to develop a strong support system including fellow students and college personnel. The cost of the program is $199 with financial support and scholarships available.

Sessions will be held Monday through Friday on the East Peoria Campus or Peoria Campus and include the following date and time options: June 13-July 1 from 9 am-Noon, June 13-July 1 from 1-4 pm, July 11-July 29 from 9 am-Noon, or July 11-July 29 from 1-4 pm

"ReStart" is a free 4-week program designed to help those who have been out of high school for three or more years and have tried college previously. Individuals will refresh and upgrade their math, English, reading, and study skills. Small cohorts with dedicated mentors will help individuals develop college success strategies to prepare them for transitioning back into college. Each session contains activities to help individuals gain confidence and succeed in college, refresh and upgrade their academic skills, secure acceptance into an academic program, and gain awareness of college resources and support.

Sessions will be each Tuesday and Thursday on the Peoria Campus and include the following dates and times: July 5-28 from 5:30-8:30 pm.

Early registration is encouraged for both programs as enrollment is limited. "Smart Start" registration is available through June 1 at icc.edu/SmartStart. "ReStart" registration is available through June 17 at icc.edu/ReStart.
