Seth Schumacher Competes in SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference

Seth Schumacher, of Eureka, IL, along with four other students from Illinois Central College, competed in the 51st Annual SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference in Louisville, Kent., June 22-27.

Schumacher earned 4th place in Diesel Equipment Technology.

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry dedicated to preparing the American workforce with skilled employees. SkillsUSA provides educational programs, events and competitions supporting career and technical education (CTE). The goal of competition is to reward students for excellence and to directly involve industry in student performance in order to keep skills relevant to the workforce needs.

To be eligible at to compete at the national level, students must successfully advance through local and state competitions.This year there were approximately 380,000 registered SkillsUSA student members, with just slightly more than 6,000 of these students eligible to compete at the national level in 98 separate events. Less than 5% earn a medal designation.
