Sam Misigaro Contributes to ICC's National Championship Speech Team

Sam Misigaro, of Peoria, was a member of the Illinois Central College Speech Team that won the national championship in the Phi Rho Pi National Speech Tournament held in Schaumburg, Illinois, April 9 - 15. The team took home the gold medal in their division. More than 500 students from 58 colleges competed.

Individually, Misigaro won third in the sweepstakes division which recognizes the top overall speakers in the entire tournament. Misigaro also earned three gold medals in the divisions of poetry, program oral interpretation, and speech to entertain. He teamed with Ben Davis, West Peoria, to win a bronze in duo interpretation.

The team is coached by Kari Schimmel and assistant coach Fred Heskett.
