Kristina Austin Wins State Honors with ICC Student Newspaper

The Illinois Central College student newspaper, the Harbinger, was recently honored with the Mike Foster Award for Overall General Excellence during the 2014 Illinois Community College Journalism Association's spring conference in Palos Hills.

Kristina Austin, of Edelstein, won third place column.

The Harbinger staff was also recognized with an honorable mention for front page design. The ICC student newspaper competed against other newspapers in Division II which includes monthly newspapers.

The competition was judged by professional journalists from throughout the state as well journalism faculty from an Illinois university.
