Illinois Central College Student Jeffrey Genge Wins Medal at Illinois Skills USA Competition

Jeffrey Genge, of Peoria, recently won top honors in the 2011 Illinois Skills USA Competition in Springfield in April. Genge was a member of the Web Design team that won bronze.

The competition tests students' knowledge and skills within their technical area of study and includes both written and hands-on testing and problem-solving. Students are expected to perform the same type of work they would complete in the workplace and are evaluated based on their knowledge and technical skill within their field. Those winning a gold medal will advance to the national competition held in Kansas City, Missouri later this month.

Genge was one of 41 Illinois Central College students to receive a medal (awarded to the top three in each division) in the state competition. An additional 26 ICC students placed among the top ten in their respective competitions. The ICC Skills USA chapter also won first place for total membership.
