ICC Student Reid Allen Returns from Studying in China

Reid Allen, of Peoria Heights, completed a 12-week study abroad experience as part of the Illinois Central College China Institute. Allen, who is majoring in Business at ICC, was one of seven students selected to study at Shenzhen Polytechnic located in Shenzhen, China, the fourth largest city in China with a population of about 14 million. The students completed 14 semester hours of coursework by studying Mandarin language and business courses. They also toured a Chinese textile factory, a manufacturing facility, and visited the Great Wall.

To apply for the competitive study abroad opportunity, students from any major must earn a 2.75 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and must have completed 15 credits of coursework. Students are selected based on an application process and formal interview.
