ICC Graphic Design Student Inga Anderson Wins "Gold" Award at Local Competition

2016 Feb 17

Inga Anderson, of Peoria, Ill., won a "Gold" award in the student category at the Peoria Ad Club Awards Gala on Feb. 11, at the Par-a-Dice Hotel. The award was granted for her design of the Greater Peoria Works logo.

Last year the CEO Council enlisted ICC students to create logo ideas for their new program, Greater Peoria Works. The new work experience program aims to identify, encourage and assist area employers with proving 1,000 non-permanent, recurring jobs or work-based learning opportunities to regional high school and college students to assist them to develop job-related skills and attitudes.

Professor David Smit's Advanced Graphic Design students submitted designs as part of their semester project. Students designed approximately 100 sketches and narrowed down their three best to develop into a digital logos. In November, the CEO Council invited ten students to present their logos for judging, and Inga's logo was chosen as the winner. The CEO Council then submitted her logo to the local American Advertising Awards hosted by the Peoria Ad Club.

Inga's design will now move on to the District 6 competition with other "Gold" award designees from Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan.
