Chad Birchenall Wins Skills USA Medal

Chad Birchenall, of Eureka, IL, recently competed in the Skills USA State Championship held in Springfield, Illinois. Representing Illinois Central College, East Peoria, Birchenall won a silver medal in the Computer Maintenance category and was one of 20 ICC students to earn a medal in their respective categories.

The competition tests students' knowledge and skills within their technical area of study and includes both written and hands-on testing and problem-solving. Students are expected to perform the same type of work they would complete in the workplace and are evaluated based on their knowledge and technical skill within their field. Gold medal winners earn the honor of advancing to the national competition held in Kansas City, Missouri, in June.

Skills USA is a national organization with more than 13,000 school chapters and more than 300,000 student and instructor members.
