Ben Davis Contributes to ICC's National Championship Speech Team

Ben Davis, of West Peoria, was a member of the Illinois Central College Speech Team that won the national championship in the Phi Rho Pi National Speech Tournament held in Schaumburg, Illinois, April 9 - 15. The team took home the gold medal in their division. More than 500 students from 58 colleges competed.

Individually, Davis won a gold medal in speech to entertain as well as bronze medals in both program oral interpretation and duo interpretation with teammate Sam Misigaro of Peoria. Davis also competed in the poetry division.

The team is coached by Kari Schimmel and assistant coach Fred Heskett.
