Bailey Schilling and ICC Livestock Judging Team Earn National Honors

2016 Apr 27

Bailey Schilling, of Fort Collins, Col., along with other members of the Illinois Central College Livestock Judging Team placed third in the collegiate division of the National Swine Registry Picture Judging Contest sponsored by the National Swine Registry, West Lafayette, Ind. The team's adviser is ICC Professor Grant Grebner.

The competition required the students to rank swine based on photographs as well as performance data. Performance data reflects real world information producers use to make breeding decisions based on genetic traits such as growth rate, reproductive performance and carcass merit.

ICC students Ross House and Caleb Harper, both of Lafayette, Ind., were honored with Top Ten finishes. House was the high scoring individual in the contest. Harper was the fourth place individual overall.

The ICC team competed against 27 other colleges, representing both community colleges and four-year universities in winning the third place national honor.

Congratulations!
