Illinois Central College Supports Central Illinois Students Struggling with FAFSA Delays

by Amanda Lewis

East Peoria, IL (08/06/2024) — Illinois Central College (ICC) is extending its hours to support students who are experiencing delays with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The 2024-2025 FAFSA rollout has faced significant issues, including delays and technical difficulties, which have caused confusion and frustration among students and families trying to apply for financial aid.

To address these challenges, ICC is offering personalized assistance for students to complete their FAFSA applications. From August 6-8 and August 12-15, students can visit the ICC East Peoria campus from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to work one-on-one with a Financial Aid Specialist. In addition to expert guidance, ICC is providing free pizza. Interested students can register at https://go.icc.edu/FAFSASession.

ICC is also holding extended hours on Saturday, August 10, and Saturday, August 17, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to provide additional support with registering for fall classes.

Dr. Sheila Quirk-Bailey, President of ICC, said, "Financial aid plays a critical role in making higher education accessible. ICC is dedicated to supporting our students through any challenges they face, including the recent FAFSA delays. Our extended hours and personalized assistance reflect our commitment to ensuring every student has the support they need to successfully navigate the financial aid process and achieve their educational goals. In addition to FAFSA awards, ICC still has scholarships available for this academic year."
